The Virginia Readers' Choice program provides students the opportunity to choose the winner of the Virginia Readers' Choice Award. This noteworthy distinction, awarded annually since 1981, is a highly-respected award for children's literature. Each year, one book from primary, elementary, middle, and high-school levels receive the Virginia Readers' Choice Award.
In order to be eligible to participate in VRC voting, a student must be exposed to at least four of the nominated books by reading them independently, or having them read aloud by someone else, or a combination of the two. Voting takes place in April. VRC books are located in the book rack next to the circulation desk. In order to provide fair access, students may check out one VRC at a time with one renewal. Students who read all ten books and take all ten quizzes will be eligible for a special prize in May.
